Gold Panning with EGS & AGPA

Saturday, September 10th 1-4pm
Please join us at Prospector’s Point (near Devon) and learn to pan for gold at this family-friendly event. There is no cost to this event, but if you are planning to attend please mark yourself as ‘Going’ on the Facebook event page. This event is weather dependent, please check this event page the morning of Sept 10 for any cancellation information.
Panning equipment will be available. We will have knowledgeable panners onsite from the Alberta Gold Prospectors Association to demonstrate proper panning technique and answer any questions.
Directions to site:
You can enter ‘Prospectors Point’ in Google maps and it comes up.
***There is an ~800 m walk from the parking area to the gold panning area***
We have to walk down to the river and back south of the bridge on the gravel bar to find gold.
Driving directions:
-Hwy 60 and Township Rd 511 (Graminia Rd) which is on top of the hill on the north side of the river.
-Turn west on Township Rd 511
-Turn immediately left (south) onto RR 263
-Stay on that road which is the old bridge road and winds down and under the current bridge. Follow to the end to a parking lot with toilets. We will meet you there.
Things to bring for personal comfort and safety:
-rubber boots or hip waders (to go in the water to pan)
-clothes that can get dirty and wet
-a change of clothes
-lawn chair
-sun screen
-bug repellent
-hat
You are more than welcome to bring your own panning equipment.
